The Farms and Farming was east of Guelph line, from Middle Road (now the QEW) down to Prospect Street. Burlington Centre is built on former Fisher Farms and Farming property. When the land was sold a memorial was placed on the vacant land between the QEW and the Holiday Inn. There was a bronze plaque on a cairn of fieldstone. That stone was from the foundation of Shady Cottage, the original Fisher Home. The family held a reunion in 2019 at the Holiday Inn. Some time in 2019, a developer bought the land. The cairn was demolished and the stone scattered. The plaque was given to the City for safekeeping. In early 2021, a Fisher family member contacted Burlington Historical Society to ask if we knew what had happened to the plaque. Since the wording on the plaque mentioned the cairn of stone from the homeÔÇÖs foundation, it was no longer valid. So the Burlington Historical Society decided a new plaque was needed. After much negotiation, the management of Burlington Centre agreed the plaque could be installed in the Centre. On 30 November 2021 there was an unveiling ceremony in the vestibule of the Guelph Line Entrance.
