David arrived in 1804. In the 1806 land grant draw he drew Lot 10 Con 1 SDS. Today (2014) that would be on the east side of Walker's Line from Dundas Street south to Upper Middle Road. The grant was issued on Dec. 28, 1807. During the War of 1812, he served in Capt. McKay's Co. He was on duty Oct 17 to 24, 1812. In 1875, at the age of 93, he was one of 42 veterans of the War of 1812 presented with a certificate and a pension as a reward for military service. At this time he claimed to have been at the Battle of Lundy's Lane. He was not listed with the detachment of the 2nd York Regiment at that battle. Research continues.
