William was a tailor. He came to Canada about 1840. Mary Ann Cairns was born in County Down, Ireland, 31 Oct 1824, the daughter of Richard Cairns and Catherine Davidson. The family immigrated to Canada about 1828 and settled in Nassagaweya Twp, south of Campbellville. Her father raised sheep and was a weaver. William and Mary Ann were married in Nassagaweya, 12 Apr 1842 by Rev. William King of St. Paul's, Dundas St. They had 7 Children and youth.
