D. Smith (see sign) from 1918 to 1936. Gwelda (nee Garnham) Fontaine, \"Reflections\" The Burlington Post, 11 February 1981: \"the Sherwood Hotel ... had a verandah going across the front and running along the side facing Elgin Street. The lattice and fretwork was very lovely and intricate in sunburst designs. The fretwork was painted white and the solid wood costruction painted a dark green.The floor was painted grey with pretty straw mats in place jere and there. They had lovely big rocking chirs spaced around the verandah. I can still see Iola Ramsey, the owner's niece, sitting rocking and talking to Mr Chauncey Bray [who] lived at the hotel ... He was widely traveled and a most interesting person. Both the Queen's Hotel and Sherwood Hotel gave lodging. There would be what could be called transient labour n Burlington. There would be a hydro project and construction job of some type. It would only be of short duraton and the workers would be billeted in these hotels.\""},{"label":"Contributor","value":"Ross Taylor"},{"label":"Creator","value":"unknown"},{"label":"Date","value":"ca 1918"},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1918"},{"label":"Title","value":"Queens Hotel, ca 1918"},{"label":"Repository","value":["Burlington Historical Society"]}],"description":"Queens Hotel, ca 1918","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/bd32780a-b130-4276-aa03-6d6ce06245fd/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Queens Hotel, ca 1918","height":1026,"width":1600,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/bd32780a-b130-4276-aa03-6d6ce06245fd/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/bd32780a-b130-4276-aa03-6d6ce06245fd","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1026,"width":1600},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/bd32780a-b130-4276-aa03-6d6ce06245fd/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/bd32780a-b130-4276-aa03-6d6ce06245fd/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/bd32780a-b130-4276-aa03-6d6ce06245fd/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/logo"}
