Kerns to John Wilson, trustee; in 1900/1901 to James Harrison & wife. 1910 GOAD map: 1 1/2 and 2 storey frame buildings, Lumber business [James Harrison], at 54 and 56 Brant and 58 John. Iin 1913 to William Morrison & wife (mortgages in 1916 and 1919). 1917 Sewerage Plan: vacant lot. 1919 Voters List: William Morrison, Barrister, Brant (part two, municipal elections only, owner) In 1921 to William C. Kerns [owner of the \"Moving Picture Theatre\"] & wife; in 1923 to Arthur J. J. Brennan; then to William Virgil Hopkins. In the 1906, 1917, 1918, and 1922 telephone directories, W. V. Hopkins is listed as a Fruit Grower. He was one of the founding members of the Burlington Horticultural Society in 1889. 1924 GOAD map: 68 or 70 Brant 1927 V. H. Hopkins, Framer, Brant (part two, municipal elections only, owner) In 1938 from the executors of the estate of Margaret Jane Hopkins, widow of William Van Norman [sic] Hopkins, to the Corporation of the Town of Burlington; then to Esther Hopkins, Spinster, and Wallace Inglehart Hopkins; in 1943 to John & Mary Jane Dykstra; Built in part before 1910. 1910 GOADMap: 46 Brant: two-storey frame structure, Office & D The 20 August 1914 Gazette: Documented that a building permit had been issued to \"Wm Kerns, addition to moving picture theatre, $400.00.\" 1916 Sewerage Plan: Moving Picture Theatre owned by W. C. Kerns. 1924 GOAD Map: 72 Brant: Moving Pictures Theatre (hollow tile construction) Brant Street Pavement Map: Moving Picture House / W. C. Kerns See The Growing Years, pp. 167-168: Burlington's first motion picture theatre was the Crystal on Brant Street, opposite Ontario Street. The proprietor was Rex Hume, a native of Milton who was descended from a pioneer family in the Scotch Block. Lyle Tuck was the projectionist for many years. Rex Hume and his family lived on Emerald Crescent. When the Crystal burned in 1930, Mr. Hume purchased a site for a new theater on Water Street ...
