The family moved to the Head-of-the-Lake on land adjoining Joseph's Brant's. Growing up in this sparsely settled wilderness, the Chisholm brothers learned to speak the Mohawk language. George became proficient in several aboriginal languages. At this time (2014) all we know about his participation in the War of 1812 was that he fought at the Battle of Queenston Heights along side his father and two brothers - John and William.
