The other was at the corner of Appleby Place. H. C. Cuttriss was the mason of choice in the Burlington area in 1910 and later, doing the stone and brick masonry in the best Roseland houses and in 1910 Lakehurst Villa, where he pretty certainly built the kneewall (now designated). In 1911 100 acres was sold by the executors of Philip Pettit Triller's estate to W. D. Flatt In 1916 W. D. Flatt & his wife sold this parcel to Ellen Holland, wife of Ernest Holland; in 1918 it returned to the Flatts' possession; sold in 1919 to Peter Harrower Douglas; in 1920 to Luther Janna Holton. Luther J. Holton was a prominent industrialist, the manager and director of several textile mills in Hamilton. He died in 1936 at his home in Port Nelson \"when a shotgun with which he intended shooting grackles on his grounds discharged accidentally\" (Gazette, scrapbook in BHS Archives). He was the father of Luther Holton Jr., who since 1954 has lived at \"Stoneacres\", 1107 Dundas Street. In 1944 sold by the executors of the Holton estate to John Russell Maynard and his wife Mabel Gertrude Maynard. George Balbar's \"Burlington: Photographs of a City\" (1989) illustrtates a full-page coluur sketch of this property (p. 32). This house was demolished in 2004.
