In the 1806 land draw, he drew Lot 12 Con 1 NDS (the second lot west of Walker's Line, north of Dundas Street to the 1st Sideroad; 2014) He was 54 years of age at the outbreak of the War In the Women's Institute Tweedsmuir Diaries it is noted that Joseph Berney, a Ship's Captain, was a carpenter and helped build the first bridge across the gap at Burlington Heights. (Dundurn Castle and the Hamilton Cemetery are on Burlington Heights; 2014) He may be buried in St. Paul's Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
