This home is an example of an older style of hip-roof sometimes called a mnsard roof.\" (p. 14),Built in \"Carpenter Gothic\" style in 1888 by James Cushie Bent, intended to become the manse for the neighbouring Calvary Baptist Church, also built by Bent. The construction date is incorporated into the gingerbread design at the bases of the second-level windows. In 1926 the trustees of the Burlington Regular Baptist Church were plaintiffs in a suit to regain possession of the intended manse, but their suit was unsuccessful.
