Harry Rowsome had been a fruit Farms and Farminger on New Street since 1883, when he bought a 9.5-acre parcel of land from William Dalton and built the house now known as 2228 New Street. Harry Rowsome was also an early chairman of the Burlington Library Board. The side addition by Paul Kadlick and John Williams was completed in 1993. This seems to be the house illustrated in an undated slip of newsprint, ca 1910. A handwritten note is pencilled on another scrap of newsprint: \"Do you know a Bargain? This is the outstanding value today in well-built homes. Centrally located in Beautiful Burlington. At a sensationally low price $4000. Extra large living room, dining room, kitchen, 3 bedrooms, den, sleeping porch, square hall, double garage, oil furnace and two open fireplaces, vegetable garden with three fruit trees. \" (See \"Detail\").
