A steer, perhaps with Thomas Alton, and horses and carriages in the yard behind the house; ducks in the middle foreground. Outbuildings include three barn structures and a corn crib and a pig barn, which has been built within the fenced area close to the house. The original log house appears to have been clad with clapboard siding, and the bell tower has been constructed on its roof ridge - like the bell tower at Ireland House.,The Thomas Alton Homestead was designated under the Ontario Heritage Act in 2007, amended in 2008. The property owners were awarded a Restoration Heritage Award in 2009. The house is featured in Mary Byers and Margaret McBurney's book, The Governor's Road (University of Toronto Press, 1982, pages 76-77."},{"label":"Date","value":"ca 1865"},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1865"},{"label":"Title","value":"The Thomas and Charlotte Alton Homestead and Farms and Farming, 4083 (formerly 4059) Dundas Street (Con 1 NDS Pt Lt 10), now 3215 Settlement Court, ca 1865"},{"label":"Repository","value":["Burlington Historical Society"]}],"description":"The Thomas and Charlotte Alton Homestead and Farms and Farming, 4083 (formerly 4059) Dundas Street (Con 1 NDS Pt Lt 10), now 3215 Settlement Court, ca 1865","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/a18df277-350a-4fb2-8654-879021bcee4f/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"The Thomas and Charlotte Alton Homestead and Farms and Farming, 4083 (formerly 4059) Dundas Street (Con 1 NDS Pt Lt 10), now 3215 Settlement Court, ca 1865","height":1112,"width":1600,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/a18df277-350a-4fb2-8654-879021bcee4f/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/a18df277-350a-4fb2-8654-879021bcee4f","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1112,"width":1600},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/a18df277-350a-4fb2-8654-879021bcee4f/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/a18df277-350a-4fb2-8654-879021bcee4f/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/a18df277-350a-4fb2-8654-879021bcee4f/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/logo"}
