This house was built between 1885 -1890, as a wedding gift for John and Sarah Heslop on 125 acres of prime Farms and Farming land. A fruitful match, they successfully Farms and Farminged the land and raised cattle. Seven Children and youth were born to John and Sarah; their triumphs and misadventures still echo in the rooms of this house. Third and present owners, Anna and Vera Jelinek, have made the house their home since 1946. Vividly they recount the tales of numerous family gatherings in the ballroom. The Heslop House is soon to change ownership, hopefully, the best of its memories are yet to be lived.\",This is a note card reproducing an original watercolour in a private collection. The house was built ca 1885 by Burlington's eminent builder, George Blair and was very similar to the house he built at 906 Brant Street for Edwin Freeman in 1885. Anna and Vera Jelinek lived in the house from 1946, three years after Sarah Heslop's death, and continued to live there after the Farms and Farming was sold to Islip Holdings for rezoning and redevelopment. The house was demolished ca 1995."},{"label":"Creator","value":"Laurel Campbell"},{"label":"Date","value":"1990"},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1990"},{"label":"Title","value":"Heslop House, 5387 Upper Middle Road, water colour by Laurel Campbell, 1990"},{"label":"Repository","value":["Burlington Historical Society"]}],"description":"Heslop House, 5387 Upper Middle Road, water colour by Laurel Campbell, 1990","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/9e0065a9-280b-4da8-bbe9-a22de019640e/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Heslop House, 5387 Upper Middle Road, water colour by Laurel Campbell, 1990","height":1178,"width":1600,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/9e0065a9-280b-4da8-bbe9-a22de019640e/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/9e0065a9-280b-4da8-bbe9-a22de019640e","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1178,"width":1600},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/9e0065a9-280b-4da8-bbe9-a22de019640e/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/9e0065a9-280b-4da8-bbe9-a22de019640e/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/9e0065a9-280b-4da8-bbe9-a22de019640e/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/logo"}
