The lot was part of the 49-acre Farms and Farming bought by John Dalton's father William in 1872. It is shown as part of that property in the 1877 Halton Illustrated Atlas. The title of the Farms and Farming passed to John Dalton in 1890 (Plan 92 Map); in 1891 he sold it to John Chamberlain \"Apple Jack\" Smith. 1897 Voters List: John Dalton, Farms and Farminger, Lots 3 and 4, Water. 1898 Nelson Voters List, Walter Bell, Laborer, Part Lot 15, Con 3 SDS, PO Burlington 1902, 1903, 1904, 1905, and 1906 Telephone Directories: John C. Smith, Water. In 1918 this lot passed from J. C. to Grant A. Smith, who sold it in the same year to Walter Bell. 1915 Sewerage Works Plan: Grant Smith 1917 Telephone Directory: Grant A. C. Smith's development survey of Smith Avenue, the lot is shown as the property of of W. Bell. E. & Ida Bell, 109 Water The Port of Wellington Square (1992), p. 25 (contains errors) ARCHITECTURE: A two-and-a-half-storey dichromatic brick structure with buff-coloured quoins and trim around one front window. The many gables have mullioned windows, fish-scale clad hoods and gable lips. The first- and second-level windows have segmental arches and stone sills. ENVIRONMENT: Located at the corner of Smith Avenue. Well landscaped with mature trees. USABILITY: Adapted as a group home and upgraded with the necessary services. INTEGRITY: Well maintained.
