Con BF and 1, Lots 7 and 8 - no description) granted by the Crown to Lieutenant Alexander McDonell; in 1801 to William Applegarth; in 1809 to John Applegarth; in 1856 part, 15 acres, to Alexander Brown; in 1920 to George D. Filman. LaSalle Park Road is marked as Wabasso Park Road on the 1921 Filman & Brown Survey Plan. It is the old road from Brown's Wharf, built by Alex Brown in the 1840s. In the 1860s his wharf was a prime supply point for the timber burned by paddle wheel steamers on the Lake. The road also linked the wharf to the industrial area of Waterdown, and to the productive Farms and Farmings of East Flamborough. Built in 1860 for Robert Sinclair. This is one of the buildings shown in the 1875 Wentworth Atlas along a strip of land on the west side of the road between Brown's Wharf and Waterdown. Also shown on the 1903 Imperial Atlas. According to a BHS note, \"the four houses in the small survey on the west side of Waterdown Road in 1875 included the old Quigley house, the old Sinclair house and the old Bowen homestead - Boyd [928]\". The BHS note has this built in 1860 for Sinclair. According to From Pathway to Skyway Revisited, p. 143, One of the first businessmen in Aldershot was Robert Sinclair, a custom shoemaker, who settled in 1856 at the southwest corner of La Salle Park Rd. and Plains Rd., known as Aldershot Corners. Across on the southeast corner was a general store and post office and a blacksmith shop. Coal oil for the lamps used in those days was stored behind in the blacksmith shop. One day, a spark from the forge started a fire that destroyed all the buildings on the corner. The post office at Aldershot opened in December, 1856, and the first postmaster was Alex Brown. ... when George Sinclair, son of Robert, took on the task, it was the beginning of a family tradition. George's son, Bruce, was postmaster until 1956 when he joined the staff of the Burlington Post Office. When Bruce left, Jean, his sister, took over the work. George Filman registered Plan 642, the Filman & Brown Survey, in 1921. In 1924 Lot 12 was sold to Mary Buchan; in 1941 to Frederick & Wilhelmina Bohrer; in 1951 to Emily Schoultz; in 1952 to Howard & Gertrude Poole. WI Tweedsmuir Scrapbook, Ch XII, p. 2: \"The old Sinclair house is now the home of the embryo naturalist, Brian Poole.\" Sold in 1953 to James & Frances Neil; in 1968 to Dr. Ludvik & Rosemary Prevec, the present owners.
