REST IN PEACE.,This hand-crafted miniature casket was found in a box of materials that belonged to the Breckon family. In 1954 W. C. (Bill) Breckon was named World Wheat King for his entry of Genesee Winter wheat. That same year, rust and severe weather devastated the western wheat crop, reducing Saskatchewan's yield by about half. The casket was made from a cardboard box, approximately 15.5 cm x 6.5 cm. The bottom section, silver in colour, was lined with white satin and in place of the \"deceased\" lies a tiny bouquet of wheat and artificial flowers bound by a white satin ribbon. The lid was painted with black enamel, and a piece of white paper containing the inscription was glued on. A black, satin ribbon, tied in a bow, was affixed near the front edge.,From W. C. Breckon (?) to W. J. Breckon, to Jim Aikin, to Flamborough Archives, to BHS Archives."},{"label":"Creator","value":"unknown"},{"label":"Title","value":"Breckon miniature tribute to western wheat, 1954"},{"label":"Repository","value":["Burlington Historical Society"]}],"description":"Breckon miniature tribute to western wheat, 1954","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/9a932b54-f5d4-459d-9455-035a75bcc2fe/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Breckon miniature tribute to western wheat, 1954","height":901,"width":1600,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/9a932b54-f5d4-459d-9455-035a75bcc2fe/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/9a932b54-f5d4-459d-9455-035a75bcc2fe","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":901,"width":1600},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/9a932b54-f5d4-459d-9455-035a75bcc2fe/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/9a932b54-f5d4-459d-9455-035a75bcc2fe/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/9a932b54-f5d4-459d-9455-035a75bcc2fe/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/logo"}
