Plan 111, J. C. and M. C. Smith's Subdivision, was registered in 1906. The 22 March 1905 edition of the Gazette Documented that \"Messrs J. C. Smith and son M. C. Smith [had] purchased the fruit Farms and Farming of the late H. Hurd - to divide a portion into village lots.\" 1916 Sewerage Works Plan: Matthew Haley residence. 1919 Voters List: Mrs Haley, married woman, at Lot 1 on Brant Street. (For Martin Haley, foreman, at Lot 3 on Brant, see 574 Brant Street.) 1922 Telephone Directory: A. Haley & Son at a Tire & Battery service station on Brant Street. 1910 GOAD Map: 24 Brant; 1924 GOAD Map: 91 Brant ARCHITECTURE: A two-and-a-half storey brick structure in Edwardian vernacular style. The high hipped roof is broken by a large offset front gable with a small Palladian window. Above the entrance a projecting bay window. On the other side of the front elevation, a slight projection with large shallow-arched windows at each level. Compare 524 and 574 Brant Street. ENVIRONMENT: Contributes to the streetscape of the west side of Brant Street, serving as a buffer for the residential neighbourhood of Locust Street. USABILITY: Converted to commercial use at two levels. INTEGRITY: The former front entrance has been divided into two separate entries, for the upper and lower tenants.
