It appears to have been designed by an architect (who?). The high pitched end-gabled roof, clad with slate, has close eaves. The roof projects downward over an open veranda, beside a central entrance projection which has a gable with a very small window at the third level. The very fine multi-paned wood sash windows have red trim and dressed stone sills. The front entrance has a moulded ogee arch in stone. Original storm door. Above the entrance is a grouped window arrangement with transoms and leaded glass. The verandah roof is supported by well designed squared and bracketed wood posts. A west side bay window overlooks a well designed garden. HISTORY: See the Unsworth family history in the note on 300 Plains Road, the Unsworth & Son Building. ENVIRONMENT: Situated on a large corner lot at Unsworth Avenue, with exceptional landscaping. A landmark property.
