By 1833 he owned both lots 13 and 14. In 1836 they passed to Henry Sovereign, for whom this Farms and Farminghouse was built in 1845. In 1860 both lots were sold to Moses Wilkins. In 1887 100 acres, including this house, was sold to John Waldie, the first reeve of Burlington, who had become very active in the Canadian lumbering industry. It is said that he bought the house as a wedding present for his second wife. According to the Canadian Champion (Milton), Waldie remarried on 24 December 1885 and a son was born on 30 December 1886. In 1906, a 50-acre parcel including this house was sold to Robert Johnston, a fruit Farms and Farminger; it later passed to his son, Robert Wellington Johnston. A feature article on Port Nelson in the 26 May 1951 Hamilton Spectator includes a photograph of its \"oldest resident\": \"Robert Johnston, the oldest resident in the Port Nelson area, has lived in the district more than 70 years, 40 of which have been spent at his present home, Erin, where his father, the late Robert Johnston, lived to a grand old age of 95. The late John Waldie, first reeve of Burlington, bought the place and presented it to his second wife as a wedding present. Mr Johnston is an ardent reader of the Spectator, and his keen interest keeps him abreast of the times.\""},{"label":"Date","value":"Spring 1993"},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1993"},{"label":"Title","value":"3265 Mayfair Place, front gable, 1993"},{"label":"Repository","value":["Burlington Historical Society"]}],"description":"3265 Mayfair Place, front gable, 1993","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/8edbd533-ea9d-40cc-a74f-d105ab9c2daa/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"3265 Mayfair Place, front gable, 1993","height":1055,"width":1600,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/8edbd533-ea9d-40cc-a74f-d105ab9c2daa/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/8edbd533-ea9d-40cc-a74f-d105ab9c2daa","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1055,"width":1600},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/8edbd533-ea9d-40cc-a74f-d105ab9c2daa/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/8edbd533-ea9d-40cc-a74f-d105ab9c2daa/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/8edbd533-ea9d-40cc-a74f-d105ab9c2daa/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/logo"}
