Slater's arrived and set up a prefabricated, portable stable for the horses, about midway in the bush on the East side of the Old Waterdown road. The horses and a load of hay and straw arrived along with the felling crew. Dad only allowed the cutting of a certain size of trees, based on a measure of the trunk. The direction of fall was decided so the tree would not hang up in or damage the neighboring trees, a notch was sawed and chopped out and then the felling cut would proceed. Felling and Bucking up the logs was done with two man crosscut saws. Notching, limbing and brushing was done by hand with a axe or Swede (Buck) saw."},{"label":"Creator","value":"unknown"},{"label":"Date","value":"1949"},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1949"},{"label":"Title","value":"Logging the Thornborrow bush, 1949"},{"label":"Repository","value":["Burlington Historical Society"]}],"description":"Logging the Thornborrow bush, 1949","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/8b4be0ff-4991-47f0-bce9-3b0fc555833f/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Logging the Thornborrow bush, 1949","height":1600,"width":884,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/8b4be0ff-4991-47f0-bce9-3b0fc555833f/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/8b4be0ff-4991-47f0-bce9-3b0fc555833f","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1600,"width":884},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/8b4be0ff-4991-47f0-bce9-3b0fc555833f/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/8b4be0ff-4991-47f0-bce9-3b0fc555833f/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/8b4be0ff-4991-47f0-bce9-3b0fc555833f/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/logo"}
