A feature article on Port Nelson in the 26 May 1951 Hamilton Spectator includes a photograph of its \"oldest resident\": Robert Johnston, the oldest resident in the Port Nelson area, has lived in the district more than 70 years, 40 of which have been spent at his present home, Erin, where his father, the late Robert Johnston, lived to a grand old age of 95. The late John Waldie, first reeve of Burlington, bought the place and presented it to his second wife as a wedding present.
