Emerson. Brothers J. and T. Emerson were general Farms and Farmingers on the south side of Dundas Street, where the Orchard Road subdivision later went through to Upper Middle Road. Across Dundas Street on the north side was Emerson Brothers ice cream and gas station, \"a most popular place in summer as their product was made from real cream. Rob Stonehewer (Heritage Award 2007); 905 631 5511; rob@stonehewer.com ARCHITECTURE: A two-and-a-half storey Edwardian vernacular building clad with stretcher-bond brick. The high hipped roof has an offset pedimented gable over a projecting semi-octagonal bay. The brick corners extend past the edge of the bay to give a ribbed effect. The gable has a rectangular window with leaded glass surrounded by wooden shingles. The enclosed full front verandah has a pedimented gable over the entrance and is supported by plain squared pillars on tapered stuccoed bases. ENVIRONMENT: Situated on corner of Locust Street, with mature trees and parking off Locust Street. USABILITY: Multiple residential. INTEGRITY: The veranda has been attractively enclosed with large 4-paned windows all around.
