The frame Building, background left, has not been identified.,We fished in our pond and creek, as well as expeditions to the Grindstone Creek or a long bike ride to Bronte Creek under the bridge on # 5 highway (Dundas Street). We fished for pike and carp at the Valley Inn Bridge and for carp at La Salle dock. We never ate the fish from La Salle or the Valley Inn, but many people from Hamilton did. We usually threw them back unless someone fishing there wanted them. It was a expedition, as you had to stay up late and catch the dew worms either at Bailey's by the cold storage or at the golf course, pack a lunch, check your tackle and bikes to get to and from the fishing spot. On the long ones like Bronte Creek you would need a blanket to stay overnight. Grindstone Creek had the biggest and most vicious mosquitoes in the world. Three of us, including a fellow named Harry McCutcheon from Clearview Avenue, went on a fishing expedition on the Grindstone Creek from the Hidden Valley to Grindstone Falls in Waterdown. We had to cover our selves with mud to repel the vampire mosquitoes that suddenly discovered us about three o'clock in the afternoon.
