In 1828 he married the daughter of a Rev. John Chettle. In 1833 he was appointed supervisor of Wesleyan missions, stationed in Kingston. In 1835 he was appointed to Toronto and purchased this property. In 1839 he was appointed President of the Church Conference. He died in 1862 at his home in Toronto. In 1888 John Morrine moved here with his family from Grimsby, clad the frame structure with brick and installed the dormer. The Morrine family joined Knox Presbyterian Church in 1888. John Morrine served as a member of the Board of Managers, member of the Session and caretaker. Minutes of the Managers' meeting of June 1915 express \"appreciation of the faithful service of Mr John Morrine as a church officer and pew steward of the church for 17 years\".
