He requested that it be set back from Guelph Line so that he would have an unobstructed view of the Church's front steps from his Farms and Farminghouse window. In 1885 the old Davidson's Church was moved to the back of the Manse to serve as a barn. After being destroyed by fire in 1907, the barn was rebuilt. The present owner uses it as a glass craft shop.
