The project demonstrates the feasibility of converting housing to commercial uses and filling in to provide economical, interesting space. This building was built by Joseph Stinson about 1850, and was originally a frame 1.5 storey cottage. It was then covered with brick and a window put in the roof to let light into the second storey. The front door is at the south gable side where there was a porch. All windows are circular arched shop of twleve panes with arched shutters to match. His youngest daughter, fondly known as Nellie, lived in the house and faithfully attended and served Knox Church until her death in 1976 at age 100."},{"label":"Source","value":"Historical Photographs Collection - Series 8 - Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee (LACAC) Photographs - F014-08-01"},{"label":"Subject","value":["Buildings","Business"]},{"label":"Type","value":["Photograph"]},{"label":"Format","value":["JPEG"]},{"label":"Language","value":["EN"]},{"label":"Rights","value":["Burlington Public Library"]},{"label":"Repository","value":["Burlington Public Library"]}],"description":"421 Elizabeth Street","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/5ff45860-024b-406d-bcc7-8e18dc65a7af/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"421 Elizabeth Street","height":1029,"width":1499,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/5ff45860-024b-406d-bcc7-8e18dc65a7af/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/5ff45860-024b-406d-bcc7-8e18dc65a7af","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json"},"height":1029,"width":1499},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/5ff45860-024b-406d-bcc7-8e18dc65a7af/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/5ff45860-024b-406d-bcc7-8e18dc65a7af/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/5ff45860-024b-406d-bcc7-8e18dc65a7af/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/logo"}
