D. Flatt on 6 June 1911. Sold in 1916 to Charles N. Tregenza and his wife, who sold it again the same year to Thomas Crooks. Built in 1919 for \"Thomas Crooks Esq.\" to a design by Stewart McPhie in the partnership of McPhie and (Frank ) Kelly, Hamilton Architects. McPhie was, circa 1930, the architect of the Edith (Birge) MacKay Mansion at Shore Acres Estate. Thomas was perhaps a son of James Crooks (Crooks Hollow, etc; see Hamilton Biography). 1922 Telephone Directory: Thomas Crooks, r. Port Nelson Sold in 1938 to Frank Elworthy Milne. ARCHITECTURE: A two-storey masonry structure, stuccoed, with an asymmetrical front elevation. The windows are multi-paned casements, with louvred shutters. The front panelled door with sidelights is protected by a flat roofed portico supported by slim ionic columns. The second level has a plain sill band. ENVIRONMENT: Mature trees. Elaborate gate posts with dentillated friezes lead to a circular driveway and frame this elegant building. USABILITY: INTEGRITY: Very well maintained. NOTE: For sale in May 1994 for $1.4 million. According to the Post, \"Built in the 1920s by an American family as their summer retreat\"; \"an addition [with guest quarters] was built about 15 years ago (i.e. 1979) which fits the character of the home\". The Lakeside elevation is illustrated. The terrace is sheltered by a flat roof supported by columns with composite capitals.
