Responsibility for determining the copyright status and any use rests exclusively with the user."]},{"label":"Language","value":["EN"]},{"label":"Format","value":["JPEG"]},{"label":"Type","value":["Photograph"]},{"label":"Subject","value":["Houses"]},{"label":"Source","value":"Historic House Project"},{"label":"Description","value":"HISTORY: In 1809 the southeast part of Lot 5, Con 4 SDS (or BF), was granted by the Crown to Stillwell Wilson; in 1809 (registered 1811) it was sold to Philip Triller Sr; in 1820 (registered 1854) it passed to William Triller (100 acres); in 1835 (registered 1854) it was divided into two 50-acre parcels for William's sons, Adam and Darcy. In 1855 Darcy sold his south-west half to Thomas Douglas Jr & wife. The 1858 Tremaine Map shows the property owner as Thomas Douglass. (The east half was owned by P.P. Triller.) In 1860 it sold to Robert Land; in 1861 (registered 1870) to his widow Hannah Land; in 1870 from her estate to Philip Pettit Triller; in 1911 from his estate to W. D. Flatt & wife. Lakeshore Road was reconstructed in 1912. In 1916 the Flatts sold this part lot to Ellen Holland, wife of Ernest Holland; in 1918 it returned to the Flatts' possession; sold in 1919 to Peter Harrower Douglas; in the same year to Samuel Herbert Alexander. The house is said to have been relocated circa 1918. It was rebuilt in 1920 for Samuel Herbert Alexander Ontario Archives fonds C12, the records of Souter, Bell, Howard & Souter, accounts book C12-3-0-1, location M-25, accounts for S. H. Alexander residence (1920) $18,952.90, tapestry brick This and another house are said to have been moved circa 1918 to this location on the east bank of Appleby Creek, next to the remains of the old Triller house, which provided staff quarters for a gardener and servants. There was a 9-hole golf course on the east side of the Creek. It is said that a man servant hanged himself, from despondency, in this house. The 1922 Telephone Directory lists H. Alexander, residence on Water St. 1927 Voters List: H. S. Alexander, Manufacturer, & Mrs E. Alexander, MW, Lot 466, 130 Water 1932 Burlington Directory: William E. & Anna Vallance. 130 Water 1932 Burlington Directory: H. S. & Elsie Alexander, Owners,132 Water; Miss Nora Glover, no status indicated; Miss Hilda Webb, Boarder, 130 Water In 1944 the property was sold from Alexander's estate to Stanley Hutton; in 1947 to Elizabeth & Cecil Brush; in 1950 to Noreen M. Dorrien, spinster; in 1957 to Lillian M. Dorrien, unmarried; in 1958 to Mabel E. Peck (mother of Alice Peck); in 1961 to Grace Jarvis; in 1964 to Norman McLeod; in 1966 to R. (Bob) E.
