Maple Avenue ( formerly Sand Road) was a larch swamp prior to the sale pf the land by Joseph Brant's family and the subsequent logging in the 1870s. \"The Lindley family had several fames of Maple Avenue from 1873 to 1973. The one I knew was near the QEW and presently (1990) is covered by the new Maple Avene, Longo's, townhouses and Simpsons [later Sears, part of the Maplevew Centre]. Maple Avenue in the first half of this [20th] century was a lovely maple-shaded road connecting the Laksehore Road and Plains Road. There were no sidewalks or street lights.\" The house is shown on page 70 of \"The Garden of Canada\" (1902): '\"Maple Lawn\", residence of J.
