This lot was sold in 1912 to Archie Kenneth Camp, a carpenter who took a mortage in 1913 to build or renovate this house. It is believed to be an former Farms and Farming house dating perhaps from the 1870s. Archie and Emily (nee Powers) married in August 1909 and had three sons, born in June 1910, June 1911 and April 1916. Archie died in 1922 and his widow circa 1930. The property remained in the ownership of the Camp family until 1982. Removed from the Heritage Registry in 2012 for alleged lack of architectural, historical and contextual value. Clark Avenue was named for Jabez Clark, born in Freeman in 1853, and died in 1946. He was manager of the Farms and Farming owned by Hiram Hurd, then purchased by J. C. and M. C. Smith and partly subdivided in their Development survey of 1906. Gordon Blair, Mayor of Town of Burlington (1940 to 1945):. \"One of Nature's Nobleman\" was \"Jabe\" Clark, His domain was the Farms and Farming on Brant Street, where I lived as a boy. His Farms and Farming extended from Birch Ave along Brant St to Baldwin St and included all the lands now occupied by Central High School. It ran from Brant St to the CNR tracks. The Farms and Farming house was on the corner of Birch and Brant Streets. Jabe was the Farms and Farming manager for as long as I can remember. His home was an attractive brick house on the north side of Pine St between Pearl and Martha Streets (2085 Pine Street). He raised everything from turnips and squash to currants and plums, apples and pears and gooseberries. His name is immortalized in a gooseberry which was named the \"Jabe Clark\". He made a friend of all the Children and youth and they were welcome either on the Farms and Farming or at his home. They repaid him by their respect -- and by not stealing his plums. I could write reams about this man, but I said it best in the first four words of this memorial to him.\""},{"label":"Creator","value":"Pat Taylor"},{"label":"Date","value":"2012"},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:2012"},{"label":"Title","value":"529 Clark Avenue, 2012"},{"label":"Repository","value":["Burlington Historical Society"]}],"description":"529 Clark Avenue, 2012","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/5553f3b4-8574-497a-9cbc-0aa38cebb0d4/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"529 Clark Avenue, 2012","height":1064,"width":1600,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/5553f3b4-8574-497a-9cbc-0aa38cebb0d4/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/5553f3b4-8574-497a-9cbc-0aa38cebb0d4","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1064,"width":1600},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/5553f3b4-8574-497a-9cbc-0aa38cebb0d4/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/5553f3b4-8574-497a-9cbc-0aa38cebb0d4/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/5553f3b4-8574-497a-9cbc-0aa38cebb0d4/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/logo"}
