Brown on the sand bluff above Browns Wharf. It appears in a sketch (by Hamilton artist J. R. Seavey) published in the Spectator in the 1890s. It was moved further east on the property when the original pavilion was built and became separated from the main body of the park when the North Shore Boulevard was built around 1915. Photos of Brown's summer house in its final location appear on pages 95, 36, 39, 42 and 26 in Prints of Aldershot by Gary Evans . I believe the City of Hamilton demolished the house in the 1950s.,Scott Forsyth, Sept 2014 - This adv. would not be for Alexander Brown's actual (house) as he lived there until he died in 1880 and his son, Alexander lived there until around 1911 and then the property was sold shortly after to the City of Hamilton. The home described is likely one of many that were rented out by him, this one being close to his wharf which, during this time period, was called Port Flamborough.,Keith Thornborrow, March 2017 - As the advertisement specified \"two story\" and close to the Wharf, the house on the sand bluff above Brown's wharf could very well have been a rental for a time. The other Brown building's further north on the toll road would not have held the same appeal. It's exterior dimension and appearance is very similar to Alex Brown's Hotel & P.O. further North on Brown's toll road. Renter's & tenants were a part of the Brown's landlord income. Miss Mabel Thompson (1869-1954) in conversation with Norma Thornborrow in the 1940s, stated that as a young girl she was taken by her Aunt Miss Mary Brown from Hamilton to Brown's House in Aldershot overlooking the Bay above the city. She also claimed it was lonely for her as there were no other Children and youth around.
