The original structure was built in 1853 for Thomas Faulkner [?] In 1877 the property of Enoch Gunby (Halton Atlas): house shown on Lot 14. Enoch Gunby was born to William and Mary Gunby soon after they moved to their homestead property at 5569 Nelson - Flamboro Town Line. He married Margaret Tansley in 1858, and they had 14 Children and youth. Turcotte, Memories of Pioneer Days, pp. 122 - 4 According to a BHS note, Enoch Gunby was killed in an accident when his Model T Ford hit a rut and he was thrown from the vehicle. In 1874 from Francis Faulkner to Enoch Gunby; in the same year 65 acres to Samuel Sinclair (half the part lot \"lying below the highest perpendicular range of rocks\"); in 1875 to Samuel Johnson Sinclair, who died in 1896: in 1901 to John Sinclair; in 1938 to C. Daniel Eaton; in 1941 to Alice Watson; in 1954 to William & Marjorie Davie, who stuccoed over the brick. Sold in 1968 (148 acres, part Lots 13 and 14)) to Uniroyal Ltd, who rented it to a lawyer, ... Bruce; in 1976 to George Forstad. ARCHITECTURE: A composite structure from various periods. The Regency front entrance has half sidelights and a fine shallow-arched fan transom. The first storey has a five-bay elevation. The Gothic Revival style double gables at the second level, with round arched windows, are a later Victorian addition. These gables retain their gingerbread bargeboards and finials. The red brick structure has been stuccoed. The windows are wood sash, two over two. ENVIRONMENT: Set back on 150 acre property with a modern pond and excellent modern landscaping. USABILITY: INTEGRITY: Recent alterations include the stucco finish, replacement shutters, new cedar shingle roof with skylights at the front between the gables, and a side addition with multi-paned arched windows and a second-level deck.
