The Spectator, May 13, 1910, \"A Scenic Drive\": \"Wallace Smith has begun to erect a fine dwelling house for himself on Water Street, by Rambo Hill\" (Burl. Scrapbook 1, 42 in Hamilton Special Collections). In the 1902/1903 Assessment Roll, Wallace Smith was listed as the owner of two houses on Lot 1251 (now Smith Avenue). 1915 Sewerage Works Plan: brick house with verandah owned by Wallace G. Smith. 1919 Voters List: J. C. Smith, Fruiter, Miss Maud Smith Spinster, Miss Ethel Smith, Spinster, Lot 1251 Water ; James C. Smith, Laborer, Lot 1251 Smiths Lane 1920 Map: 105 Water Street East In 1920, the property of G. Smith (Plan 196, J. C. Smith's Survey) 1927 Voters List: Rev. D. Ford, Priest, Lot 1251, 105 Water 1932 Burlington Directory: Rev. D. A. Ford, Owner; William & Elizabeth Knapman, Tenants, 105 Water The Port of Wellington Square (1992), p. 24. ARCHITECTURE: A two-and-a-half-storey front-gabled brick structure. The gabled roof has wide eaves. The pedimented gablet is stuccoed with neo-tudor timber application. ENVIRONMENT: USABILITY: INTEGRITY The alteration of the front verandah has almost obliterated the original character of the structure. The lower level is partly enclosed and clad with angel stone; the upper level has a lattice-type railing. The tall brick chimneys are replacements. Replacement window (sliders) in the gable; gabled dormer at the side. The Port of Wellington Square (1992), p. 24, recommendation: \"Preserve.
