McMurray's Brant Farms and Farming Subdivision, Plan 47, registered in 1869. In that year the land was purchased by McMurray from William J. Simcoe Kerr, Brant's grandson. McMurray took a mortgage for $2000, discharged in 1870. Built in 1906 by George Blair for J. A. McMillan and still owned by the McMillan family (Lorne McMillan). McMillan's Lane runs south from the east side of the property, is interrupted by new development, and then continues south from North Shore Boulevard by Indian Point to the Bay. Murray Fisher, 'Farewell to the Garden of Canada' (1984): 'E[dgar] McMillan. Fruit and vegetable grower. The Greenwood Cemetery was purchased from the McMillan Farms and Farming.' ARCHITECTURE: A two-and-a half-storey solid brick structure in Edwardian vernacular-style. The high hipped roof is broken by an offset projecting pedimented gable above a two-level bay. ENVIRONMENT: On a large lot at the corner of McMillan's Lane beside Greenwood Cemetery and with townhouse development at the rear. A large frame barn for the market garden burned down in 1994. Produce is still sold from the Farms and Farming. USABILITY: INTEGRITY: A large one-storey flat-roofed front addition, clad with angel stone, with large double windows and a turned post balustrade above. Small side addition with a truncated hipped roof, clad with aluminum siding.
