However, Blair's identifications do not match the names printed in the Burlington Gazette on Wednesday 19 August 1914: \"On Monday afternoon the town witnessed one of the most stirring scenes in the history of the place, when twenty-eight young men who enrolled with E. Co. for volunteer service left for Georgetown.\" \"Headed by the Burlington Band and two pipers, the men marched to the Grand Trunk station [Burlington station, in the hamlet of Freeman], followed by a procession of automobiles, rigs and citizens on foot. The route was gaily decorated with British and French flags, bunting, etc, and the streets were filled with people who cheered the boys as they passed along. It is estimated that over 500 people were at the station to see the boys off.\" \"Reeve M. C. Smith was called upon to deliver an address. ... He felt quite confident that after a few weeks training at Valcartier the boys could go to the front and distinguish themselves and uphold the best traditions of the British army. ... The Reeve then proposed three cheers for the King and the Burlington volunteers, respectively, which were heartily given.\" \"The following is the list of volunteers from Burlington and district: Edward Greenwood, John Church, Albert Oakes, Charles Reid, Alfred Clary, Robert Saunders,James C.
