When Burlington grew so quickly, the congregations of two United churches were in need of a larger building. Trinity United Church, which was built in 1893 near Knox Presbyterian Church, became too small for its congregation and St Paul's, which met in a temporary building, joined together to form the congregation of Wellington Square United Church. The modern three-quarter of a a million dollar building located on Caroline Street was dedicated in 1965. When the old church was demolished, parts of Trinity United Church were saved and incorporated into a chapel in the new building.\" [...] When a new church was necessary, an effort was made to preserve some of the church's history.
