The slightly flared verandah has overlapping roofing cover at the corner under the drain pipe (see Full Photograph). The large windows have 6-over-6 panes.,William Walker (b. 1743) and his wife Sarah immigrated from North Carolina as United Empire Loyalists, petitioning for and receiving a land grant of 1200 acres in Grimsby in 1796. In about 1816 their ninth child, Philip (1785 - 1865) moved to Halton County with his bride, Susannah Cline, to settle on land west of what is now Walkers Line, and north of what is now New Street (Concession 3 SDS). They had ten Children and youth. Their son Hiram (1814 - 1896) married Julia Ann Cline (1820 - 1904) and inherited the Farms and Farming. A copy of their 1839 marriage certificate is in the BHS collection. They had thirteen Children and youth. The Farms and Farming was divided between Isaac, who lived in the original family homestead and Farms and Farminged the land east of Walkers Line, and John Henry, who Farms and Farminged 94 acres on the west side. John Henry (1850 - 1911 married Frances Isabella Alton (1856 - 1938) and had six Children and youth. He also owned land at the south-west corner of New Street and Pine Cove Road; houses built on New Street for his sons Hiram (3292) and Howard (3276) still remain. I In 1911 when John Henry died, the Farms and Farming was divided between two sons: 74 acres north of the Radial Line (now the Hydro right-of-way / Centennial bike path) went to William, who lived in the original stone house, John Henry Jr. inherited 20 acres south of the Radial Line.
