Designed by Hamilton architect Charles Mills and built in 1893 by George Blair, to replace an earlier building destroyed by fire on Christmas day 1892. In 1965 it was replaced by a new structure at 2121 Caroline Street, Wellington Square United Church. This church was demolished, as were 6 historic homes on Caroline Street, including the Crosby Farms and Farminghouse. The digital scan is taken from a photograph in Murray W. Fisher, Memoirs, unpublished typescript, April 1977, pages 17- 18: \"SUNDAYS Sundays at our house meant Church and Sunday School for sure, unless sickness or weather decided otherwise, and let me say you had to have more than a 10 o'clock chill for an excuse. If there were 5 or 6 going we took the two-seater carriage, which was open, but if rain came it was the buggy and somehow we snuggled into one seat. The first minister I remember was Rev. Mr Henderson in our Methodist Church. He and his family lived next door in the parsonage , and he always wore a small white ribbon bow tie. I suppose I listened some, but I do not remember much except relief when it was over, and I would rush around to see friends. I used to count the organ pipes, have done so countless times, but for the life of me I forget how many there were. There was another matter that always caught my interest whenever the organ was to be played. The power for this was supplied by a big hand bellows like a huge water pump, and this required a boy to pump. My friend Charlie Sheppard had this task for several years, for which he received $1.00 per month. What was exciting was when Charlie would drowse off in his little alcove, and Mr Henley the organist would strike up \"Work for the Night is Coming\", or \"Bringing in the Sheaves\", etc., and there was just a wheez efrom the organ, the nearest choir member would rush to rouse Charlie. Such an occasion would brighten up the service for us youngsters. \" -- Murray Fisher"},{"label":"Contributor","value":"Murray W.
