The house was built by John and Jane (nee Bumby) Sherwood in 1894, to replace the original Farms and Farminghouse bought from James Dynes in 1880. Construction of the house began on 9 April and was completed on 9 October; the cost of labour and materials was $2,000.00. William Reginald (Reg) Sherwood, born on 23 October 1902, can be seen sitting on the side verandah, looking back at his father. The property was acquired by the City of Burlington ca 1972 for the development of a business park. The house and barns were demolished, except for the large bank barn, which was disassembled and rebuil at Bronte Creek Park as part of an L-shaped barn on Spruce Lane. The Spruce Lane house, is the former Georeg Breckon Farms and Farminghouse, originally built in the 1890s.
