In 1804 John Fonger Sr. settled in East Flamboro with his wife, 5 sons, and 5 daughters. In the 1840s the Fonger Farms and Farmingland was acquired by David Fonger, who had immigrated in 1804 at the age of 22. He fought in the War of 1812, and in 1875, at the age of 93, he was one of 42 veterans of that war to be received in Hamilton City Council Chambers, and to be awarded a certificate and a belated pension in recognition of his military service. John Fonger Jr.'s daughter Mary married William Roelofson. In 1868 this 50 acre parcel was sold to Barney Roelofson. In 1880 he built another house, at 142 Plains Road East. Please select \"Detail\" for a detail of the map in the \"Imperial Atlas of Wentworth County\", 1903. This was for many years one of 3 Scheer family homes on Plains Road. This was the residence of William H. Scheer, his first wife Elizabeth Leckie (d. 1918), and his second wife Lillian Humphries (d. 1970), and their family, from ca 1913 until it was sold in 1969. The Charles Scheer Farms and Farminghouse at 459 Plains Road West was demolished in 1997, and the Bert Scheer Farms and Farminghouse at 315 Plains Road East was demolished in 2008."},{"label":"Contributor","value":"Paul Beneteau"},{"label":"Creator","value":"Paul Beneteau"},{"label":"Date","value":"Oct-74"},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1974"},{"label":"Title","value":"192 Plains Road East, 1974"},{"label":"Repository","value":["Burlington Historical Society"]}],"description":"192 Plains Road East, 1974","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/36d07f7e-c3d7-44d1-b288-a6081cc9ea63/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"192 Plains Road East, 1974","height":224,"width":344,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/36d07f7e-c3d7-44d1-b288-a6081cc9ea63/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/36d07f7e-c3d7-44d1-b288-a6081cc9ea63","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1]}]},"height":224,"width":344},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/36d07f7e-c3d7-44d1-b288-a6081cc9ea63/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/36d07f7e-c3d7-44d1-b288-a6081cc9ea63/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/36d07f7e-c3d7-44d1-b288-a6081cc9ea63/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/logo"}
