Several High-Rise Apartment Buildings in Central Burlington.\" \"The question one can now ask, \"Is this residential area worth saving?\" Based on the architectural value that has been mentioned above, the answer would have to be \"yes\". From the homeowner's point of view, they too would agree that this residential area should be saved. One homeowner, on Ontario Street, who is a member of \"Save Old Burlington\" says that their main objective is not historical, but only to save their neighbour[hood] as single family dwellings. They do not want their neighbourhood to be taken over by developers of high-rise buildings. On the town council's side of the picture, they will likely approve the removal of the transitional zoning allowing high-rise development to take place. Higher density of land use means increased tax dollars. With the present zoning by-laws the town council is projecting a ppulation of 50,00 in the core area by the year 1985, an increase of about 25,000. Housing for much of this increase will have to be acquired through high-rise development. Already one high-rise tower on Pearl Street has been completed and another will soon be under constuction at a site on Martha Street.\" (pp. 15 - 16),43.37,-79.8142"},{"label":"Contributor","value":"Mrs Barbara J.
