Part Lot 26, Lots 27 and 28 were sold in 1922 to Colonel Bertram Osmer Hooper. The architect was H. E. Murton of Hamilton. Illustrated in the Roseland Park brochure, page 6. An undated typescript from circa 1950: \"The present home of Col. Hooper (First St. & Hart Ave.)\" was the site of the home of Rev Dr. Thomas Green. It was \"a spacious abode; we are told it had large rooms with great fireplaces, French doors out onto terraces where gracious living was understood.\" A wide curving driveway led up to the vicarage from the Lake -- then called Geneva Bay. Great pines and acacias or honeysuckle lined the drive.... It was Mrs Green's roses from the Old Country which gave the name Roseland. Remains of her rose garden are still apparent and some of the original foundation stones were used about the present property.\" Lieutenant Colonel Hooper (1879 - 1951) was a veteran of the First World War in the Canadian Infantry, 20th battalion. A banker, he enlisted in November 1914 and was cited for the Military Cross in March 1916 and the Distinguished Service Order in January 1919. In 1956 from the Hooper estate to John Moodie Vallance. His wife Mary married Hugh Hand, \"the firecracker king\".
