Lot 16, Con 4 SDS was granted by Crown Patent to John Brant in 1816. In 1834 it was sold by the executors of his estate to Philo D. Bates, nephew of Augustus Bates. A one-fifth acre Lot 2 passed in 1840 from Philo Bates to Theodore Bates. Plan 45, the Village of Port Nelson, surveyed by Thomas Blyth, was registered in 1869. In 1878 Jeremiah & Mary Lane mortgaged the property to Peter McCulloch. There is no conveyance from Theodore Bates to Lane. In 1897 the title of the southeasterly part of Lot 2 passed from Jeremiah to John Lane. 1903 Assessment Roll: John Lane, nonresident owner, Toronto, Porter, Water St Block L, Lots 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 (stable), and Green St Block N, Lots 2 & 3 In 1904 to George Irving. In 1917 to Fred Hart. 1919 Voters List: Fred Hart (occupation not indicated), Lot 2, Green Sold in 1919 to Thomas Atkinson. 1919 Sewerage Plan: Thomas Atkinson (house shown). Sold in 1920 to Elizabeth Crane. The 1922 Telephone Directory includes T. Atkinson as a resident on Pine Street. 1924 GOAD Map: 9 Green 1927 Voters List: Elizabeth Crane, Widow; George Park, Rubber Worker, & Ophelia Park, MW, Lot 2, 9 Green In 1931 to Ophie Park [daughter of Mrs Crane??]. 1932 Burlington Directory: George & Ophelia Park, 9 Green In 1958 to Jaroslaw Hapiuk; in 1960 to Theodore & Marjorie Marie Clark; in 1962 to John & Hendrika Nyland; in 1996 to Alan Hawkes & Debra Manou-Hawkes. ARCHITECTURE: A one-and-a-half storey structure of mixed design and materials. Clad with stretcher-bond brick , with a very large front gable dormer clad with siding. One-storey side addition with a bow window has the same siding. The openings in the brick structure have segmental arches with radiating voussoirs and dressed stone sills.
