The building that was continuously occupied by members of the Wakeford family until 1996 derives much of its contextual value from its deep setback from Plains Road. This setback speaks to the agricultural roots of this section of Plains Road. The property derives further contextual significance from its inclusion within the West Plains Neighbourhood Plan Area (Mills Survey, 1918). The Plan Area supports one of the highest remaining concentrations of cultural heritage resources within the Aldershot community. HISTORY: Plan 623 is Stanley Mills's Plan registered in 1918. Lot 9 was bought in 1919 by George S. Wakeford; the house was built in 1923 for George & Nancy Wakeford; in 1931 to Nancy M. Wakeford, widow. 1923 School Section # 2 roll: George Wakeford, resident at 101 Aikman Avenue, Hamilton. 1924 G. S. Wakeford, age 63, Nancy Wakeford, age 48, Corona age 22; 1925, same. 1935 Plan of the Kings Highway in the township of Flamboro East: Nancy M. Wakeford In 1968 from her estate toher daughter Corona Guenther, who continued to live here until 1996, almost her one hundredth year. She had no Children and youth. In 1996 it was inherited by Winnie (nee Keller, who had lived on Unsworth Avenue) & Kenneth Wright; sold in the same year to William G. Reynolds (married to Lois Unsworth).
