Thomas Amy House HISTORY: The property was subdivided for development in 1908 by J. Walter Gage (Plan 117), but most of the development in this plan occurred after the installation of water mains and sewers in 1910. This property was bought in 1911 by George Allen, who may have built the house. It was sold in 1913 to Thomas Amy (mortgage). 1915 Voters List: Rev Thomas Amy, Clergyman, 86 to 89 Burlington 1916 Sewerage Works Plan: owned by Rev. T. Amey [sic]. 1919 Voters List: Rev Thomas Amy, Clergyman, 86 to 89 Burlington 1924 GOAD Map: 62 Burlington 1927 Voters List: Mrs Amy, Widow, 62 Burlington 1928 (January) Burlington Directory: J. Betzner, Gardener, 62 Burlington ave 1932 Burlington Directory: J. A. & Mary Betzner, Tenants, & J. M. Bates, Tenant, & James Javis [sic], Tenant, 62 Burlington In 1942 it was sold from Amy's estate to Henry & Ann Hanna. Their daughter Mary married ... Hunt and is Carole Hunt's mother. Mrs Hanna knew Doris Giddings; Carole visited the Giddings house on one occasion. Sold in 1976 from Mrs Hanna (widow) to John & Lynda Newey; in 1977 to Diane Richardson; in 1988 to Bill & Signy Pittman, the present owners. ARCHITECTURE: A two-and-a-half storey Edwardian vernacular building clad in stretcher-bond brick with a hipped roof and an offset gable. The full front verandah has a shed roof supported by three (replacement) Doric columns on brick bases; original balustrade. ENVIRONMENT: Good incorporation of Hager Creek into the back garden. USABILITY: INTEGRITY: Skylights, a rear deck and a kitchen entrance.
