Derived from a Flemish dialect word for a cow's feeding trough (in English called a manger, from the French verb meaning \"to eat\"). The food and ambiance are unpretentious and home-like. Canadian troops would have learned its meaning during the First World War. The original postcard is in the Dorothy Turcotte collection: the laser print copy is in the Ross Taylor collection."},{"label":"Contributor","value":"Dorothy Turcotte; Ross Taylor"},{"label":"Creator","value":"unknown"},{"label":"Date","value":"ca 1920s"},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1920"},{"label":"Title","value":"The Estaminet Restaurant, 2084 Lakeshore Road, ca 1920s"},{"label":"Repository","value":["Burlington Historical Society"]}],"description":"The Estaminet Restaurant, 2084 Lakeshore Road, ca 1920s","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/1a211a0c-51ec-4cd3-aed8-3e109c090d63/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"The Estaminet Restaurant, 2084 Lakeshore Road, ca 1920s","height":301,"width":461,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/1a211a0c-51ec-4cd3-aed8-3e109c090d63/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/1a211a0c-51ec-4cd3-aed8-3e109c090d63","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1]}]},"height":301,"width":461},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/1a211a0c-51ec-4cd3-aed8-3e109c090d63/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/1a211a0c-51ec-4cd3-aed8-3e109c090d63/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/1a211a0c-51ec-4cd3-aed8-3e109c090d63/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/logo"}
