In 1836 a parcel was bought by Augustus Bates, who deeded it to his daughter Rachel, the wife of Philo D. Bates. In 1855 Jesse Nickerson, a jeweller, bought the property and apparently built an early part of the house. In 1872 it was bought by William Dalton, who rebuilt it with a new foundation. The house was enlarged, perhaps even doubled in size. In 1878 \"Chestnut Villa\" was sold to Amanda Baxter, widow of Thomas Baxter. She added the late Victorian improvements such as the bay windows, the front gable, and the front vestibule. In 1910 bought by Maxwell C. Smith, Mayor of Burlington in 1915, 1916, and 1919. In 1978 the property was sold by Drs Terry and Joanne Richards to a developer for inclusion in a luxury condominium project."},{"label":"Contributor","value":"Walter Reeves"},{"label":"Creator","value":"Walter Reeves"},{"label":"Date","value":"Fall 1971"},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1971"},{"label":"Title","value":"2220 Lakeshore Road, 1971"},{"label":"Repository","value":["Burlington Historical Society"]}],"description":"2220 Lakeshore Road, 1971","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/18d41be4-c45e-4550-adb6-1edc899211f4/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"2220 Lakeshore Road, 1971","height":230,"width":350,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/18d41be4-c45e-4550-adb6-1edc899211f4/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/18d41be4-c45e-4550-adb6-1edc899211f4","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1]}]},"height":230,"width":350},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/18d41be4-c45e-4550-adb6-1edc899211f4/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/18d41be4-c45e-4550-adb6-1edc899211f4/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/18d41be4-c45e-4550-adb6-1edc899211f4/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/logo"}
