Capt. McGregor was stationed there with the 42nd Highlanders. (British force.) Jane died in Scotland in1806. While serving with the Black Watch Regiment during the Peninsular Wars (fought in Europe 1807 to 1814) Peter is credited with saving the life of the Prince Regent; later King William IV. In 1812, Peter, age 49, was stationed in Quebec in charge of transport of soldiers and supplies for the British regular forces. Discharged in Scotland after the War of 1812, Peter returned to Upper Canada with his second wife Ann Urquhart and was granted 500 acres on Walker's Line. He died in 1827, at the age of 64 and is buried in St. Paul's Presbyterian Church Cemetery. His wife died on 25 Apr 1853 and is buried with him. Note of interest: In 1853 Peter's son John built a 19 room house on Walker's Line that became known as Limestone Hall. The house is still standing (2014).,??? Lieutenant Peter McGregor ???
