In the 1806 land draw he received Lot 9 Con 1 NDS. In 2014 this would be the second lot east of Walker's Line from Dundas Street north to the first Sideroad. He enlisted in the militia May 10 or 14, 1811. On Apr. 2, 1812 he took the oath of loyalty that all officers had to take. He was absent from Oct. 17 to 24 1812, but then did serve from Oct. 25 to Dec. 19, 1812. He was in the Niagara District from Sept. 24 to Oct. 24 1813. He worked on Dundas Street from Oct. 25 to Nov. 9 1813. He served a total of 103 days in the 2nd York Regiment. On June 20 1814 Hugh was Documented as moved to Hamford, Niagara District.
