The fire was at the station in Freeman, built for the Great Western Railway circa 1854. In August 1882 the Grand Trunk Railway acquired the Great Western. Donald McQuarrie, the miller who lost heavily, having wheat and flour stored in the station, and Samuel W. Moore are both listed in the 1881 Census. Moore, born in England, was said to be age 33 in 1881 (and 41 in 1891) The County of Halton Gazette and Directory (1881 - 1885), specified that Moore was station agent for the GW (Great Western) Railway. The downtown N&NWR (Northern & North-Western Railway) station agent was W. G. Nellis. The Halton Gazette listed three carriage makers - George Allen, G. G. Burns and and James Wilson - any one of whom may have manufactured baby carriages as a sideline."},{"label":"Contributor","value":"Scott Forsyth"},{"label":"Creator","value":"unknown"},{"label":"Date","value":"March 1883"},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1883"},{"label":"Title","value":"Fire destroys Burlington Grand Trunk Railway Station, 1883"},{"label":"Repository","value":["Burlington Historical Society"]}],"description":"Fire destroys Burlington Grand Trunk Railway Station, 1883","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/0d17ce1e-0216-4e8b-8bee-42a3d83a9725/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Fire destroys Burlington Grand Trunk Railway Station, 1883","height":600,"width":492,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/0d17ce1e-0216-4e8b-8bee-42a3d83a9725/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/0d17ce1e-0216-4e8b-8bee-42a3d83a9725","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2]}]},"height":600,"width":492},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/0d17ce1e-0216-4e8b-8bee-42a3d83a9725/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/0d17ce1e-0216-4e8b-8bee-42a3d83a9725/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/0d17ce1e-0216-4e8b-8bee-42a3d83a9725/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/logo"}
