The Grand Trunk Railway line from Hamilton to the Freeman station ran along the present electrical transmission line. The tracks, which were removed in the 1980s, crossed Brant Avenue at the crossing point of the Radial Line, where Elgin Street is now. The buildings on the east side of the Radial Line were demolished to make room for the Burlington Art Centre and Brock Park. Plan 65, Benjamin Eager's Survey, was registered in 1874. The 2 October 1907 Gazette Documented that \"Mr James Harrison has commenced the erection of six modern detached houses on his lots on Brant av near Hotel Brant.\" According to Stanley Blair, in the 1890s Alf Ireland lived at what was later 422 Brock Street (since demolished).
